This painting was created on the streets of Mumbai where I was working alongside abstractionist S.M. Hussein at the Khala Godha Street Gallery in Colaba. The painting is a surreal take on the relationship between “words” and “birds” – how both represent a type of freedom that we can cherish. The painting was the first in a series of works exploring the Occidental perception of The Book i.e. the establishment vs the freedom associated with acquiring knowledge through self-education.
