nuit Miraj

Mixed Media on Canvas, 30” x 40” , September 2006 for Nuit Blanche at the Whippersnapper Gallery.

The work was completed on the night of Nuit Blanche at Whippersnapper gallery (a 24hr live painting event).  The painting depicts the event of Miraj, which is the legend of the Holy Prophet Mohammad’s ascension to the seven heavens from the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.  The faces are representations of my nephew Gabriel (or the angel Jibrael) who ushered the Holy Prophet on that prestigious night 1400 years ago.
